I LOVE to be in my backyard garden! It is my happy place. But since we live in the Midwest, I can only garden several months out of the year. Last year, my son-in-law built raised garden beds. They are awesome! I no longer have to spend lots of time on my knees to plant and weed. I also practice organic gardening. To me, that means I don’t use any pesticides or weed killer in my garden. That means extra work, but I think it’s worth it.
Last year, I grew tomatoes, cucumbers, asparagus, zucchini, green beans, corn, cilantro, dill, and parsley to use in my recipes. Of course, I also grew pumpkins for Grandma’s Pumpkin Patch!
Fresh ingredients make all the difference in recipes. If you don’t have room to grow your own vegetables, I encourage you to visit your local farm stand. Check back this spring to see us planting our garden!
